Don't get your fanny's in a bunch! These fanny packs, or some may call "bum bags" have made their ways (again) onto the runways.
Dolce has revamped these 80's fannies with lots of beads, rhinestones and sequins.

But who's to say if these "belt bags" will actually hit street fashion. Every year, there's always a claim of the Fanny comeback as much as the claim for the return of "Mom's jeans". Sure they look good on the runway, but I hardly see them on a daily basis. I myself is a proud owner of a fanny snagged from American Apparel years ago but for the sole purpose of being hands free on the go, like running or hiking. Will I ever wear it as a statement piece? Maybe. With the right size and style, these daring little gadgets may possibly work an outfit
And if you consider yourself an audacious risk taker, here are some tips on how to sport your fanny without looking like a tacky tourist:
• a waist cinching leather belt with a little belt bag is perfect for pairing with a long, flowing maxi dress
• with some tassel detailing to add luxury bohemian touch
• high waist pair of tailored pants or flares
• with a simple clean cocktail dress for evening which is perfect for storing credit card and lipstick

"Casual Fridays" Done Right
Working in an office environment, I am almost certain that the whole company rejoices when we get the green light to go "casual" for the day. Though must of us know the meaning of casual, there are those few clueless individuals that fail miserably. This past Friday happened to be our "casual" day. In the sea of jeans, one individual stuck out like a sore thumb. This individual, who shall now be referred to as, Ms. Thumb, brought her own version of "casual" to our office. The impression, I'm sure, was lasting with everyone but not in a positive way. In fact, I had to do a double take when i walked past Ms. Thumb in the hallway. She looked like she had pulled a rumpled t-shirt and sleep shorts out of her hamper and threw it on. To my horror, she was prancing around like it was no big deal!
(*Not the culprit but definitely what she looked like. Wish I had taken a pic !)
Here are a few things to keep in mind when dressing casual for the office:
1) Proportion- How the outfit fits. Outfits that are too tight, too short, too low cut or even the opposite, way too big, are sure to draw attention. Try not to show excessive amounts of skin.
2)Material- Make sure the fabric is appropriate for the office. Anything too sheer or stretchy can raise eyebrows in the office
3)Condition- Avoid wearing anything with excessive tears, holes,or rips. Even though the environment is more relaxed, it is still a professional setting.Try to stick with clean lines
4)Common sense-When choosing your outfit, if you have the slightest bit of doubt that the outfit is inappropriate for the office, then most likely it is!
Remember, dressing casual may be a treat but don't take advantage of the situation. You, as the individual, are still setting an example so please be a good one!

"Blessed are those who are flexible ..."
"They will never be bent out of shape .." ~unknown
I finally redeemed a deal snagged from Livingsocial.com for 20 classes of Bikram yoga. I was reluctant at first, considering I haven't done yoga in the last 2 years. But what the hell, I'm always up for a challenge.
So what is bikram yoga?
Bikram yoga is a series of 26 postures conducted twice in a single 90 minute class. This is performed in a heated room with temperature ranging from 95-106 degrees with 40% humidity, hence the term, "hot yoga". The reason for the heated room is to warm up and stretch every muscle, tendons, and ligaments in the body. Heated temperature also can also avoid injuries. Benefits from hot yoga includes developing strength and flexibilty, stress relief, and can burn an average of 400-700 calories per session!
My first two sessions were intimidating and kicked my ass! I sat down through some of the poses due to unbearable humidity. I for sure, did not think I would even last. However, I managed to survive. The key is to focus on your breathing and concentrate on each pose. Now that I'm five classes in, it does gets easier, and I feel better than ever! Namaste.
What to wear for Hot Yoga:
One general rule is simple: wear the least amount of clothing! I suggest breathable sports bra and form fitting shorts made out of breathable material. Check out online shops such as ww.bikramyoganyc.com/shop_online.htm or http://www.shaktiactivewear.com/

Tie Dyed Hair... Love it or Hate it?
The reality star Lauren Conrad has tie-dyed the tips of her hair! As seen above on the left, she did a hybrid dip dye/tie dye hair color consisting of the colors fuchsia, turquoise and green. Now although we wouldn't recommend this to a person working in the corporate world, we still love it for it's whimsical and cheeky look! With the way Lauren dyed her tips in a vertical manner versus the Nicki Minaj horizontal dip- dye, it makes Lauren's hair look longer and more voluminous. Nicki's horizontal dip dye jobs makes her hair appear pretty flat and geometric. Will this be the new summer look that takes over the now feather extension and ombre trend? Although I recommend going to your colorist, here are some tips that I found, courtesy of Elle girl, on how to dip dye your own hair.
What you’ll need: Hair bleach, developer, gloves, brush, foil, dye
What you’ll need: Hair bleach, developer, gloves, brush, foil, dye
1. Mix hair bleach and developer in a plastic bowl until you get an icy-like consistency.
2. Section out your hair; keep first section on top of head with a clip.
3. Split the bottom section in 1/2 and apply bleach to desire ends up to your desire length. Feather the brush towards the top and cover completely.
4. Apply foil (yes, you can steal the foil in your kitchen) to each section of hair, take bottom half of your hair down and do the same.
5. Heat ends with a blow dryer and check each section to make sure they are fully saturated.
6. Remove foils and rinse over the sink.
7. Put your desired hair color into a plastic cup and apply generously! This is the time to have some fun.
8. Wrap colored hair in plastic bag and apply heat, the longer it holds, the better the color keeps.
9. Let hair cool for 5 minutes.
10. Rinse ends with condition and smile at your fabulous new hair in the mirror!
HAPPY COLORING!

Quick Mani-Fest
Everywhere I go, I am always late. Hence, I am always rushing. (I know, something I really need to work on.) But the one thing that usually bothers me that I wish I didn't forget to do are my nails. I always leave it last to do because I can't do anything else with wet nails. So what has been a savior to me when I have a week old mani and no time? OPI Shatter nail polish.
Apply one coat of this bad boy to your nails and it forms a shatter effect. It dries almost immediately so even bringing it along with you on the go is feasible. Please note that it looks even more ahh-mazing when you apply a clear top coat after. I've "shattered" my nails in a cab heading downtown and they were dry before I even got to my destination!!! It looks great with any color nail polish and OPI has 6 shatter shades to choose from. With all the buzz around town, I wouldn't be surprised if they come out with more colors.
So ladies, don't be bummed about your undone nails, just bum rush to your closest Duane Reade and grab a bottle!

Shape-Ups: Fashion Fave or Fail?
Popularly marketed with claims of "toning the tush", this hideous invention is nothing more than thick-soled sneakers that are arched at the bottom rolling you from heel to toe. Sure it makes walking fun and easy. Generally, any walking is good exercise, and perhaps these funky foot pillows may inspire you to walk the extra mile. Want firmer butts? Do your squats. Shape-ups. #FashionFail.
